Pit 29 reveals timbers

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOn Sunday a group of us excavated Pit 29 to a level which revealed part of the timber beam which we had been expecting, Pit 29 is very wet and is excavated partly through the fill of Pit13/14, but extended as far west as the concrete path allows. The annotated photo shows a plan view of the pit. The yellow arrow indicates the timber beam appearing in the wall of the pit. The light green arrow shows a small piece of loose timber, shaped somewhat like a stake which was found lying in proximity to the beam. The bands on the red/white scale are 10cm in length.
