Drying out in 2014!

ImageWe did not escape unscathed after the winter floods of February 2014.  Our site is between the Millstream in Christchurch and the River Avon which reached a high level and flooded riverside properties.  The brick shed on site in which we stored our finds seemed to have been flooded to a depth of 10 cm, unprecedented  in the several years we have been working on the site.  Our first task was to dry out the finds trays at the bottom of the pile and which got wet, fortunately causing no loss of material.
