Our AGM for 2014 was held in the Stanpit Village Hall on Tuesday evening, 17 June. IN the absence of any alternative candidates, the same officers and committee members were returned to serve for another year. While the Committee are no doubt pleased by the the confidence of the membership, it would be welcome if members interested in committee work came forward, especially to fill those vacant committee posts. After the formal meeting, David Eels gave us a very interesting talk on Magna Carta in preparation for its 800th anniversary next year. He described his initial interest in Magna Carta as a student history teacher, the location of the famous meadow of Runnymede in which it was sealed, and surprised us by revealing those many myths about Magna Carta which we thought we knew.
