Magnetometer Survey at Priory House

SAM_1508smallAs part of our project to investigate the grounds of Priory House with a variety of geophysical techniques, we were fortunate to be offered the use of a magnetometer by our supporter, Dr Richard Bates of St Andrews University. Richard brought with him a Bartington Grad 601 gradiometer system consisting of two magnetic field gradient sensors mounted on a non-magnetic frame. We laid out a number of 20mx20m and 10mx10m grids and surveyed these during the morning 1 June 2015. The position of the grid origins was then surveyed in with a differential GPS kit, altogether managing to survey a total of 1600 square metres.
